Since most people have already stated above how excellent this plug-in is, I’m not going to spend time on that. What I will state however, is that I’ve been looking for a way to build an email list for a long time and do it in a way that will not cost me a small fortune.

I tried using one of those well know email marketing services which charges a monthly fee for their service. Well, because my list was not growing at a fast enough pace, the monthly payments I was making was basically just like flushing money down the tubes. Needless to say, I had to cancel that account after a few months and ended up with nothing to show for my efforts; not to mention the money I wasted.

I think this plug-in is exactly what I’ve been looking for as it will allow me to build my list at my pace and more importantly, will not cost me a dime while doing so.

Thank you for making it available for free and I am looking forward to reporting back with my success story.

The problem seems to be caused by a conflict with the voodoo widget….a real shame as they go together so well. Something in one of the plugins is causing a problem

Latest version of plug-in (just updated)
I can see 2 sets of form fields First Name, Last Name, Email and submit button) in the subscribe form which you can see at http://peebee.php5.truth.posiweb.net/.
Great plugin works a treat (apart from this one issue)

This is a killer plugin. All of the other “highly” rated newsletter plugins available through WordPress pale in comparison. I love the attention to detail and the helpful hints/strategies you provide both inside the plugin admin and here on your blog.

A few questions:

1. How can I modify the “Subscribe” button to a) change size, b) change position, and c) change text?
2. (mentioned previously by Ben) How do I insert an image into the widget?
3. Why would my “From Name” come through as the alias of my “From Email”?

I have it configured like this:

From Name: ezGamerz
From Email: newsletter@ezgamerz.com

But in some email clients (notably Gmail) the from name is coming through as “newsletter”.

Minor stuff, really, but it would be great to get solutions to these questions.

First of all, I’m highly impressed byt the plugin – and I’d be very happy if I could solve the following problem:

I try to configure the SMTP server using gmail (instructions here: http://techblissonline.com/gmail-smtp/ )

Unfortunately, I always get an error message (with whatever port I use: 465, 587 or 25
fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]:
unable to connect to
ssl://smtp.gmail.com:25
(Connection refused)

Any idea???

Also – for future releases, I thing it would be awesome if it was possible to display a picture of an incentive (ebook – video) to make people give their email address – any thought on this?

I think I have tried all of the newsletter plugins for WP and even some of the paid ones like constant contact. I am impressed with yours but have a few questions?
1. Is there an issue using this plugin / admin with Firefox?
2. Would you consider adding in a filed type of date so that a subscriber could add in their birthday? Second part would be very cool to them have a tool that check for upcoming bdays from the subscribers and notifies the admin somehow and maybe even a custom template to send out a happy birthday email.

Hi Julia! Great Plugin!!

I’m working on a solution for my blog and wanted to see if you had a suggestion on how to integrate it with G-Lock.

I’d like to enable a checkbox below the comment submit button that a commenter can check to add the email address (that they were just required to enter) to my site mailing list powered by the G-Lock WordPress Plugin.
