Is there a way to import existing subscribers into the G-Lock plugin? I already have a subscriber list but I found your plugin today and want to use it moving forward. However, I don't want to have to start from scratch and would like to move my existing subscribers over. Is there a way to do this?

Hi there, just a heads up:

1. Creating custom fields for the subscription task doesnt work, it doesnt save them properly
2. Your Plugin doenst work with the new custom_post categories introduced in WP 3.0.1, it only recognizes the default posts submitted under the main Blog category, I'm flagging this gievn the theme that I'm using already adapted to this new custom_post and custom_taxonomy approach therefore separating the regular Blog posts from the custom created posts.

Any updates addressing those 2 issues in the future?

Do you have a feature to send out emails at a slow, throttled rate? Some server providers won't mind if you send out 10, 20, or even 50 emails per hour, but others will cut your service off if you "overuse" the email.

The Autoresponder Plus V3 has two nice settings to help you stay out of trouble with your service provider.

1. Mail sleep interval. Number of seconds between emails. Set to 20, for example will limit it to 3 per minute and 180 per hour.

2. Message limit. Restrict mailing to this number of of messages. Set to 4000, for example.

I'm just getting ready to try your plugin, but I already know that I need to be concerned about how to throttle back the email to avoid trouble with my hosting service.

Julia,

Since most people have already stated above how excellent this plug-in is, I'm not going to spend time on that. What I will state however, is that I've been looking for a way to build an email list for a long time and do it in a way that will not cost me a small fortune.

I tried using one of those well know email marketing services which charges a monthly fee for their service. Well, because my list was not growing at a fast enough pace, the monthly payments I was making was basically just like flushing money down the tubes. Needless to say, I had to cancel that account after a few months and ended up with nothing to show for my efforts; not to mention the money I wasted.

I think this plug-in is exactly what I've been looking for as it will allow me to build my list at my pace and more importantly, will not cost me a dime while doing so.

Thank you for making it available for free and I am looking forward to reporting back with my success story.

Blessings,

Justin

The problem seems to be caused by a conflict with the voodoo widget....a real shame as they go together so well. Something in one of the plugins is causing a problem

Latest version of plug-in (just updated)
I can see 2 sets of form fields First Name, Last Name, Email and submit button) in the subscribe form which you can see at http://peebee.php5.truth.posiweb.net/.
Great plugin works a treat (apart from this one issue)

Julia,

Just wanted to drop a quick line to say that this is an amazing plugin. Not only is it easy to install and configure, but your support through the minor rough spots is exceptional.

Thanks!

This is a killer plugin. All of the other "highly" rated newsletter plugins available through WordPress pale in comparison. I love the attention to detail and the helpful hints/strategies you provide both inside the plugin admin and here on your blog.

A few questions:

1. How can I modify the "Subscribe" button to a) change size, b) change position, and c) change text?
2. (mentioned previously by Ben) How do I insert an image into the widget?
3. Why would my "From Name" come through as the alias of my "From Email"?

I have it configured like this:

From Name: ezGamerz
From Email: newsletter@ezgamerz.com

But in some email clients (notably Gmail) the from name is coming through as "newsletter".

Minor stuff, really, but it would be great to get solutions to these questions.

Thanks for a great plugin!!

Hi

First of all, I'm highly impressed byt the plugin - and I'd be very happy if I could solve the following problem:

I try to configure the SMTP server using gmail (instructions here: http://techblissonline.com/gmail-smtp/ )

Unfortunately, I always get an error message (with whatever port I use: 465, 587 or 25
fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]:
unable to connect to
ssl://smtp.gmail.com:25
(Connection refused)

Any idea???

Thanks

Also - for future releases, I thing it would be awesome if it was possible to display a picture of an incentive (ebook - video) to make people give their email address - any thought on this?

"you can build own in-house permission based email list using a double opt-in subscription method;" - This is a great benefit considering you'd have to pay Aweber like £100 a year for that benefit.
